Running Along Forbidden Drive

Experience every corner of Wissahickon Valley Park and support it at the same time! Spend the fall participating in FOW’s All Trails Challenge, an exciting four-month long event that invites you to explore the Wissahickon by hiking, walking, running, horseback riding, or biking all 50 miles of its scenic trails. (All trail user designations apply.) Your friends, family, and coworkers can join you in your Wissahickon fundraising mission by sponsoring you.

The 2017 ATC kicks off on Thursday, 9/7, with a launch party at the Wissahickon Brewing Company (3705 W. School House Lane) from 6-7:30 pm.  The first 50 people who register and pick up Challenge packets at this event will receive a free beer. Come meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts and maybe a new exercise buddy.

RSVP for the Launch Party here!

Don’t forget that FOW members get a jump on the competition and can start logging miles and fundraising more than two weeks early, beginning 8/21/17! Keep an eye on your email for instructions on how to sign up.  FOW members already participating will be able to pick up their ATC swag bag at the Launch Party on 9/7 and will also get a complimentary Wissahickon brew!

Along the way, there’ll be mileage and fundraising incentives, lots of give-aways, and scheduled hikes and walks with great prizes, including exclusive vacations for the top mileage and fundraising participants. Last year, more than 270 people participated in FOW’s inaugural ATC, altogether completing over 5,000 miles, and raising $25,000 for the park.

    • Giulia Morrone says:

Hi Holly! You can absolutely bring your kids along and there is no minimum for the number of supporters who donate to your challenge.

  3. Anneclaire De Roos says:

It sounds like I need a smartphone to be able to track my mileage. Is there a way to participate without a smartphone?

    • Sarah Marley says:

      Hi Anneclaire,
We will have an online form you can fill out and you can mark your mileage on your FOW map throughout the event. You can use the tracking software from a computer too, so a smartphone is not necessary. We just ask that if you want to qualify for mileage prizes you bring in your map to be verified at the end of the Challenge or you mark your mileage on one of the tracking apps once you return home and upload it to the online form.

      Thanks! Sarah

Is the competition based on mileage completed or amount of money raised?

    • Sarah Marley says:

There are prizes for both fundraising and mileage. Plus bonus prizes for all eligible participants (people who have raised or contributed at least $50) throughout the competition. Hope to see you out on the trails!

Ive had sevEral people asked how to Sponsor by check…that might be good info to include on the site. So, would they just send a check to FOW with a note indicating what its for? And what is the address? Thanks!

    • Sarah Marley says:

      Hi Becky,
Thanks for the recommendation! We will add that info to the website. People wanting to sponsor by check can send a check to our office at 40 W. Evergreen Ave., Suite 108, Philadelphia, PA 19118 to Giulia Morrone’s attention. They should indicate that they are interested in sponsoring the All Trails Challenge and if it is for a specific person they name the person in the note as well. Thank you!
