Upcoming Volunteer Day Schedule

June 20, 2009

10 am to Noon
Invasive Weed Removal by Livezey Lane

Please join FOW, Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers and UPenn students to remove invasive weeds along the White Trail just north of Livezey Lane. We will work on removing weeds along the trail such as Devil's Walking Stick and Multi-flora rose. This is part of long-term native plant restoration in the area.

Directions:

Meet us where the White Trail intersects with the north side of Livezey Lane. Livezey Lane is off of Allen's Lane, close to the intersection of Allen's and Wissahickon Avenue, in Mount Airy, 19119. Coming down Livezey Lane into the park, the trail will be on your right.    Parking is very limited along Livezey Lane, so FOW recommends parking in the nearby neighborhood along Wayne Ave, Allen's Lane, or Mount Airy Ave, and walking down Livezey Lane. Volunteers are encouraged to bike or carpool to the work site.

June 27, 2009

9 am to 2 pm

Trail Maintenance by Jannette Street

Please join FOW and Philly Mountain Biking Association for a day of trail maintenance back at Jannette Street.  Volunteers will check trail grades, install rolling grade dips, cut nicks, armor areas to improve drainage, and generally do whatever is needed to manage stormwater and keep the trails in good shape!

Directions:
Meet by the Jannette Street entrance to the park, 19128.

From Henry Ave turn west onto Monastery Ave.  Then make a quick right onto Jannette Street.   Parking is available along Jannette Street and other side streets in the area.  After parking, head down the access road and you will see us!  Volunteers are encouraged to bike or carpool to the event
