Conservation

FOW’s Conservation Committee strives to protect the long-term natural beauty and wildness of the Wissahickon Valley Park. To accomplish this, the Committee implements various Projects aimed at encouraging balanced regeneration of native plant and wildlife species and at preserving the man-made trails, bridges and other Structures inside the park. For more information see Restoration. In so doing, the Committee seeks to provide effective access for the growing number of park users and to enhance their appreciation of the many natural and historical aspects of this unique urban park.

The Conservation Committee invites Volunteers to participate in different aspects of this work, including trail building and restoration; wildlife and water monitoring; Structure Restoration; Wissahickon interpretation and user education.
